new and improved!

I just wanted to take a brief break from frantically editing to post about a couple of new things at regina holder photographer!  I am excited to finally officially unveil my new logo.  My bride Hannah of Hannah Deesigns revamped the logo, keeping the star but also adding 2 new icons.  When the new website launches in January, the new icon dots will be indicative of the weddings, children’s photography and blog.  I knew Hannah would take me outside my comfort zone and it was great working with her to come up with something we both love.

I have also just moved my studio to downtown Asheville.  I am so excited to be located now on Wall Street!!!  This picturesque side street features a mix of unique shops and some great restaurants like Early Girl, Laughing Seed and Market Place and is just one block from both Patton Avenue and Grove Arcade.   My studio is now 70 Wall Street, Suite 201.  It is the 3rd business on Wall Street, which is one way.  Wick and Greene Jewelers upstairs, Wachovia Securities, then my entrance way are then followed by People’s Place Salon, Blaze N Skyy pet boutique and Red Wolf Run.  The parking deck is on the other side of the street and the best place to park.

The exterior signs went up last week and I am so happy with them.  Dave at All Signs did a fantastic job!!!  He was so great to work with and totally got my vision.  I love the metal circle icons hanging down.  Since I have entrances both on Patton Ave and Wall Street, he did 2 of the large signs.  The door and window decals are up, too, but I get a ton of afternoon light and just couldn’t get a great shot yet.  You can walk up the stairs from Dragonfly Salon and Wick and Greene parking lot.

These windows face Ashland Avenue red light and have a great mountain view.

Entrance through iron gate and down walkway.

Hours are still by appointment only, but if you are downtown, call and see if I am there.  Open House/Holiday party announcement coming soon!!!

mexico with jose villa

I spent last week in Mexico at the Jose Villa workshop.  I had waited over a year for this workshop and it totally did not disappoint!  In the last few years, I have attended many workshops, almost becoming a workshop junkie.  The first workshop and subsequent ones have had such an impact on my images and my business that building on each one has taken me so far.  An added bonus is all of the friends made along the way.  After 3 major workshops last year, I decided that I would only select one this year and knew right away that studying with Jose was the best option for me.  If you haven’t seen his work, please go directly to Jose’s website - he does the most gorgeous images and is such a wonderful person!  Special guests were Cameron Ingalls who is so cool, artist Karina Puente who has had such an impact on my life, Joel Serrato whose films are breathtaking and my friends Gene Higa and Ann Hamilton who I love bunches!  My workshop buddy Christine from Texas roomed with me again – this is our 3rd workshop together.  We stayed at the beautiful Hacienda El Carmen, south of Guadalajara.  Special thanks to Mar Romero for a fantastic job styling the shoots and to Miiriam, Danny, Valeria and Martin from Citro Modelos for racing around, sometimes actually running to the next location for the photographer’s vision.  From everyone’s twitter messages, I know that all of us are missing the incredible food, three meals a day as a group.  I must say any other guacamole is going to be disappointing.  I need a few more days to really digest and write a heartful post.  I have had a bunch of people ask to see images, so these are the ones that I turned in for the last day.
