nadine and brandon – champagne cellar, biltmore estate

Nadine and Brandon came from Arkansas to get married at Biltmore!  How cool is that!  When she first contacted me, I was worried about what I could possibly do with 7 people for 6 hours.  LOL!  The couple, her son and both sets of parents were the whole wedding party.  Luckily, Donna Germano played throughout the dinner and that made 8.  When I arrived, Nadine was getting her hair done, Brandon was laying on one bed and her son was playing video games on the other one.  Nothing about their wedding was traditional!  Nadine’s dress was wowser!!!  When they came by the day before the wedding to meet me and go over everything, they told me how much they didn’t like having their photos taken.  They did their initial meeting down in the lobby and then we took off around Biltmore for couple shots.  We were almost late for the ceremony, because they were so excited about the different places on the Estate to take photos.  As always, Blossoms at Biltmore Park did a beautiful job on the floral design.

misty and joseph – rumbling bald, lake lure

Misty and Joseph are such a fun couple!  They make me feel O-L-D!!!  The amount of enthusiasm, non-stop energy and incredible love that they share is so evident in their photos.  Their wedding took place at Rumbling Bald at Lake Lure, which is most well-known for it’s use in the filming of Dirty Dancing.  About the time the ceremony was supposed to start, a rain shower came through.  A few minutes later, the sun was shining again and everything was a go.  Then, almost as the ceremony was finishing, it started pouring!  A huge thanks to the guys with umbrellas that protected us from the rain – at least, until we had to hike back up to the reception.  Most of the guests and I got good and soaked.  I was lucky enough to eventually get the wedding party and couple down on the beach and dock for some of my favorite photos!  I am very thankful to Sophia who shot with me.  She was a tremendous help, especially with all the rain.  It had been quite a while since she last worked with me and it is always fun having a friend tag along.

Even the cans for the going away car were pink and yellow!

kristen and paul – copper crest

I was lucky enough to be hired by Kristen when my friend Corey was already booked for her date.  Kristen is one of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met.  We talk on the phone for hours at a time about everything and nothing.  I will be sad when she moves to England soon to finally be with her new hubby, Paul.  They met in Italy and have had a loooong distance relationship with brief moments of absolute happiness.  Paul had to return home after the honeymoon in Alaska alone.  *sigh* I had to send photos to Kristen so she could put them with her VISA paperwork to prove that it is a real marriage.  I dare the British government to look at these photos of Kristen and Paul and not know without a doubt that they are madly in love and blissfully happy!  Paul is in the British Navy and wore his dress uniform.  Kristen was full of pranks and had the DJ play “Yellow Submarine” during the cake cutting, everyone sang along.  For a guy that lives where it is never hot and was wearing WOOL in the incredible heat, he had a great attitude!  The lovely Kristen was very sneaky and had TWO beautiful dresses, but about 8:30, it was so hot that everyone went and changed.  I love the kids on the dancefloor in their swimsuits.

Jennifer King from Verge Events helped make the day run smoothly, even with a big rain shower right before the outdoor ceremony.  Thank goodness she and Nicole were able to handle everything and not stress the bride out!  The very talented Heather Bryson from The Look came up from Charlotte to do hair and makeup and made the girls look beautiful!!!  My neighbors, Blossoms at Biltmore Park, did an absolutely fabulous job on the floral design.  The bouquets were gorgeous and had cool pearl letters for each girl’s initial.  Chef Jordan at Copper Crest is amazing and a huge part of where they chose to have the wedding.  Rev. Tim Lolley is so incredible and the couples really love him!  Sisters McMullen always does beautiful and delicious cakes.

Special thanks to Danny for tagging along on the first part of this one.  The guys were a lot of fun!

michelle and blair – doubletree biltmore

Michelle and Blair were married at Central Methodist Church in Canton.  Blair’s mom actually works in the church office.  They just renovated a new parlor upstairs that was great for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in.  Michelle was gorgeous in her dress from Weddings Inspiration!!!  It was quite an emotional day for Michelle and her parents.  She and her mom are super close and dad was having a hard time.  Not only was their baby girl getting married, she was also moving to Atlanta.

Theirs was the first reception at the  Doubletree Biltmore Hotel’s new Vanderbilt Executive tower.  Yolanda and her staff were such a pleasure to work with!!!  The ballroom is super nice and holds more people than most places in Asheville.  The room decor and big chandeliers fit their Georgia Bulldog color scheme perfectly.  Before they went into the reception, they took a few minutes to do some fun portraits, including a football themed groomsmen shot with the bouquet.  The guys later took a cigar break in the patio area and the fireplace was a great spot for a few twilight portraits.

Michelle’s mom, Sylvia, made the wedding cakes.  She’s going to have a website soon, so check back on my vendor list.  The cakes were delicious!!!

tiffany and brad – crest center

Tiffany and Brad were married at The Crest Center on a Friday evening.  Theirs was the 3rd wedding I photographed there in 19 days – I have 7 this year.  It was the first wedding I had shot that had the ceremony on the deck at Crest looking out over the mountains.  It was beautiful!!!

By the time we got to the wedding, Tiffany and her BFF Courtney and I had shared some hilarious moments.  They were so much fun!!!  Courtney was really sad, because she was leaving on a mission trip right after the wedding and Tiffany moved across town.  Tiffany is so lucky to have such a great friend – she really went way above the Maid of Honor duties!  Brad is also a total riot!  I love his stretching routine before removing the garter.  The ceremony time was based on when he would sweat the least.  LOL!

Click here to check out their slideshow.

Courtney providing some encouragement.

You’ve got to love a bored flowergirl.

They did a cool blending of sand, instead of a unity candle.

They made quite an exit.  Brad drives race cars on the weekends.
