I am a huge believer in conserving energy, so Earth Hour is something that I want to help make more people aware of. In each time zone around the world at 8:30 PM, you just turn off your lights for an hour!
My friend, Christine, can attest that I would actually have to turn a light on at 8:29 PM in order to be able to turn off my lights at 8:30. She was kind of freaked out when she came to visit that I never turn lights on in the house. The TV is on and the computer screen and one super low wattage light bulb over the kitchen stove. Otherwise, I like it dark. My best friend is the complete opposite, she has the overhead light and lamps on at the same time! I feel like I need sunglasses in her living room. Since I will be at her house during Earth Hour, I hope I can help make more of a difference!
Earth Hour began in Sydney Australia in 2007 when 2.2 million people switched off their lights. In 2008, 50 million people around the world participated.
